Telling the time – Saat … (It is …)
Saat bir / iki / üç / dört / beş / altı / yedi / sekiz / dokuz / on / on bir / on iki
past: geçiyor
We first say the hour. And it is in accusative case (-ı, -i, -u, -ü):
01:05 (It is five past one.) - Saat bir-i beş geçiyor.
02:10 (It is ten past two.) – Saat iki-y-i on geçiyor. (“y” is the buffer letter used between two wovels.)
03:15 (It is a quarter past three) – Saat üç-ü çeyrek geçiyor. (çeyrek = quarter)
04:30 (It is half past four) – Saat dört buçuk. (buçuk = half) Note that the hour is in nominative case when we say buçuk. Dört buçuk. Not dördü buçuk.
to: var
This time the hour is in dative case. We use -a, -e suffixes.
11:55 (It is five to twelve) – Saat on iki-y-e beş var. (Again “y” is the buffer letter between two wovels.)
10:50 (It is ten to eleven) – Saat on bir-e on var.
08:45 (It is a quarter to nine) – Saat dokuz-a çeyrek var.
06:40 (It is twenty to seven) – Saat yedi-y-e yirmi var.
The easy way to tell the time:
14:38 (It is fourteen thirty-eight) – Saat on dört otuz sekiz.

Geniş Zaman - The Present Simple Tense
The suffixes –ar, -er, -ır, -ir, -ur, -ür put the verb in the present simple form.
Ali sabahları erken kalkar. (Ali gets up early in the morning.)
Saat sekizde işe gider. (He goes to work at eight o’clock.)
Akşam beşe kadar çalışır. (He works until five o’clock in the evening.)
Saat altıda eve gelir. (He comes home at six o’clock.)
Akşamları genellikle kitap okur. (He usually reads a book in the evening.)
Ya da deniz kıyısında yürür. (Or he walks at the seaside.)
